It seems that Nintendo has been knocking it out of the park with introducing new IPs in recent years. First being the amazing Splatoon games, and now this, which may be the most fun fighting game of 2017. It has a staggering amount of depth and is one of the best introductions to a new IP I've ever played. The visuals are crisp, colorful, and creative, the gameplay, while can be tough to master, is easy to learn and is an absolute blast, the characters are all creative and oozing with that trademark Nintendo charm, and the game modes are all fantastic. The fact that you can play through a Grand Prix, which can be played many times on different difficulties, for the championship is awesome and the fact that you earn badges and points for more arms with different abilities while doing so all adds a crap ton of replay value. Also, the way to aquire new arms is pretty addictive, as you can also hit targets for more points. Overall, this game is pretty damn epic, but, of course, first games in series aren't without their minor hiccups, and this is no exception. One of them being the awkward multiplayer. It's still a fantastic time, but since the split screens don't have that much of a border, it can be easy to get distracted by the other player and get your ass handed to you. Another is that, while it's definitely a ton of fun playing and unlocking every arm, there's really not much incentive to complete this game, as this game, unfortunately, doesn't really award you with anything for doing everything, which is a bit of a bummer. Despite the minor problems I have with this game, this is still must have for switch owners if they like fighting games, as this is easily one of the best on the system. Seeing how Splatoon 2 is sort of a masterpiece after the already great Splatoon for the Wii U, I'm very excited to see how Nintendo improves upon this already great game, as it is a fantastic new IP that really packs a punch.
